happy birthday

Ever since Morgan's princess party Annika has been a little obsessed with "happy birthdays." Every time we go to Lyndsay's house (or even drive by her house for that matter) she says "mmm, mmm, happy birthday cake....yummy auntie." Unfortunately we still have a few birthdays in the family to go until Annika's birthday. She will be good and ready to celebrate in January!

Trouble

Annika at the top of the stairs saying "come on Audrey." Audrey smiling proudly as she has made it to the 4th step all by herself...let the fun begin!

august...oh wait, its already september!

I've been spending all of my computer time renewing my BLS and ACLS and all of those important certifications that will help (hopefully) save lives and thus have neglected the blog and the preserving of family memories so I thought I better get something posted before we're on to a whole new stage. So here is a bit of what we've been up to:

-E and I left the girls for 3 whole days (2 nights) to go up to Seattle for a business/fun trip. We had never been separated from both girls together by a plane flight so this was kind of a big deal for me. All went well and we had a blast. I am convinced that all you pacific north westerners lie about all that rain you get to keep your part of the world from becoming overpopulated. We had the most gorgeous weather! We had a great time reconnecting with Jeremy and Audi (sans children) and also with my good friend Sheri. Thanks for showing us around. Seattle is beautiful...the "cleaner, greener SF," as our concierge called it. A&A had a great time with their grandparents and grandmama kept my nerves at bay with plenty of pictures of my girls. Its crazy how strange it feels to be away from them for just a couple of days...like you're missing an appendage. I couldn't wait to get them in my arms again. But it is always refreshing to have a break from the day in and day out tasks of parenting, so THANK YOU gma and gpa for watching the girls!

-We were reminded again how children go through phases and no phase lasts forever. Annika's terrible 2 and a half days have subsided, at least for now. She has been so much fun lately. I wish I could freeze her in this stage for a while. Some of my favorite annika moments:

-Choosing the "Cars" pullups at Costco. Their are Cars for boys and Princess pull ups for girls...thats what I get for giving her a choice.
-Wanting a braid in her hair and music on and telling me she was a Princess and dancing with me until bedtime.
-Singing along to our "Seeds Family Worship" CD in the car. She does better every time. Nothing sweeter than hearing scripture out of the mouth of a two year old.
-Telling me she loves me to pieces when she goes to bed at night.
-having to do everything herself even if it means totally re-doing something so that she can do it herself.
-Reading to us like the lady at the library does...you know turning the book around to show us the pictures.
-Singing Jesus loves me and happy birthday to annika every night before bed.

I am so thankful for this delicious little 2 year old.

As for Audrey, she continues to be a sweet little one. Though she has had a rough couple of weeks as she is cutting 4 teeth at once right now. Poor baby! Audrey is finally crawing on her knees and hands now (though she still prefers to scoot on her tummy). The crawling stage is my favorite. Kids are just so cute with their little butts up in the air and their new-found freedom. She is becoming more and more opinionated every day which is more fun but can also be more challenging. She will not be left behind...man that girl scoots around pretty fast! My favorite Audrey moments:
-rocking her before bedtime. She is so cuddly.
-hearing her make car sounds with grandpa.
-listening for the doggy outside and making ruff ruff sounds
-being greeted by her big smile in the morning.
-seeing how much she loves her sister.
-hearing her exercise her will and her temper when we take something away from her. This sweet girl is no pushover!

I am so grateful for this precious 10 month old.

Annika talks about the Bible

It's crazy what kids pick up on.
